Below is a
collection of past season Sioux City High School (Jr. Musketeers/Metros) game
jerseys and the
different styles over the seasons. Also featured are the players who
wore them and a showcase of their hockey
accomplishments both on and off the ice.
SYHAstuff would be very
interested in adding your jersey to this history collection. Each jersey is
photographed,
documented and then returned to you immediately.
With the initial start of both the USHL Musketeers and the
SYHA Program, both teams developed a close affiliation. Both groups needed each
other to
survive their start-up periods. In 1972 both the Musketeers and Jr. Musketeers
programs were both newly formed organizations. The High School team
would be known as the Jr. Musketeers for the next seven seasons.
New jerseys this season are the old Musketeer jerseys.
The round Musketeer logo is removed and the front of the jersey is left blank.
This season The Jr. Musketeers jerseys receive the two-colored chain-stitched
"Sioux City" on the front. Yellow letters outlined by green. The white
jerseys
have no shoulder numbers while the green jerseys do.

Worn three seasons (77-80 Fr./Jr.) by Mark Adam. (Senior year was first
season for new Metro team name and jerseys.

Worn three seasons (77-80 Fr./Jr.) by Dan Reynolds. (Senior year was
first season for new Metro team name and jerseys.
Hand-me-down jerseys from the Sioux City
Musketeers.

Collar tag missing.
Dan would go on to play the 1981-82 season for the Musketeers (USHL)
In 1980-81 the Jr. Musketeers name was replaced; now
called the Sioux City Metro, the name was thought to best represent the overall
make-up of both players on the high school team and those involved in
local youth hockey organization.
A new jersey style and logo are utilized this season. The jerseys are a heavy
mesh material with square shoulder yokes and sleeve and body striping.
A new logo with Metro with a SYHA under the blade.
1979-83 Sioux City Jr. Musketeers/Metros Team
Jacket
This style team jacket was worn for several seasons during
the early 80's. This "letterman" style jacket was introduced in 1980 when high
school hockey was starting to be accepted as a Sioux City High School Sport.
This style mirrored the traditional high school letter jackets popular
in that time. Flocked type material, thee color cuffs and leather accents at the
shoulder. Sleeve had 3- year SYHA letter and additional years played.
Front had chain-stitched name on right and four-year Varsity letter on left.
Heat applied player names and shoulder numbers are added
the Metros jerseys.

This style jacket was worn for several seasons by all SYHA coaches. This nylon
material jacket had three color cuff striping. Chain-stiched
name on left and Coach on right. Also on the right is a tackle-twill single
color years coached. This jacket was worn for two seasons, 87-88
and 88-89. Tackle-twill two color letters on back of jacket. Made by Gem

For the start of the 1988-89 season the Metro logo saw a
major change in appearance and a minor change in the name. This season would see
a
change to a multi-striped traditional styled jersey. The team would now be known
as the Metros.

T.J. Plays four total
seasons for the Metros; after a pair of unsuccessful appearances in the
State Championship game, the Metros would finally win
their for ever State Title in 1991. T.J. eads the Metros in scoring this season
with thirty-seven goals and thirty-three assists; his
seventy points is also second best among all league scorers. He is a multi
season Metros team captain & top two scorer, IHSHL
All-Star and Chicago Showcase selection.
T.J. Reinsch
T.J. Reinsch becomes the Jr. Musketeers/Metros all-time leading
scorer. Having recorded 37 goals and 33 assists; his 70 points during the
twenty-six game regular season, remains a high watermark. It has been challenged
several times, but this high
remains unsurpassed.
His 1.42 goals per game and his 2.7 points per game remain
the second highest among all Jr. Musketeers/Metros scorers.

During his four seasons as a Metro player he would play in three State
Tournament Championship games and win two of them in 1998 & 1999.
He was also a 1998 JV State Tournament Championship runner-up and a 1999 JV
State Tournament Champion. Robbie was a multi season
IHSHL All-Star and Chicago Showcase selection, a past team Captain, Rookie
of the Year & Most Valuable Player as well as a four
time Academic Achievement Award recipient.

Cory Mozak. He would spend the following two high school seasons playing

seasons in the NAHL and two in the NCAA.

OMG!!! Where do I start with
this guy!!! ;) This pictured white jersey, hit me with a shot
almost every home game!!!
Swany...Thanks for the bruises!!! He would go on
to become a long time USA Hockey Official based first in Sioux City and then
again in Des Moines where he is currently officiating.
Great guy-knows the rules and knows how how to keep the game fun.
This was the only season the Metros wore the special mesh
material games socks in both colors, white and black.

In 2003 first year sophomore Kevin Lohry leads the Metros to their
first State title of the decade with the
winning goal during the third
overtime period, defeating the Des Moines Oak Leafs. He went on to
play two seasons for the Musketeers, four seasons at Princeton
and a final season with the Bakersfield Condors of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL)

Kevin is just one of only three Metros players to lead the team in scoring three
consecutive seasons. He was also an IHSHL top ten
scorer three season as well. Playing in ninety-three regular season games, Kevin
recorded seventy-five goals, sixty-nine assists and 144
regular season points; giving him an averaging of 1.5 points per game.

Marshall joined the Metros and found a place on the varsity team. His
freshman season saw a move straight to the varsity squad playing a
complete
thirty game schedule. He grabbed four assists along the way and was
selected the Metros Rookie-of-the-Year. The following season he
would record four goals & eleven assists and receive the
Metros Sportsmanship Award. However, Marshall's two best seasons were still to
come.

Nick Cownie splits his freshman
season between varsity and JV; playing in thirteen varsity games and all
thirty JV games scoring ten goals and a team leading eighteen
assists. He would play one more season for the Metros again before moving to
Omaha where he
played for the Omaha Energy a
AAA team in the Midget Elite League.
The 2005-06 season would again represent a new
relationship between SYHA and the Sioux City Musketeers. A logo change was
implemented
and stylized after the Musketeers'.
The 2005-06 season would also mark the 30th Season of the Iowa High School
Hockey League (IHSHL).

goals and twenty-one following-up with sixteen goals and thirteen assists. He earned multiple selections the the League's All-Star and
All-League teams as well as the Chicago Showcase.

After declining an invitation to play for the Musketeers (USHL), Marshall joined
the Morningside Mustangs Football team where he spent
four
seasons
collecting tackles and awards. Marshall's finest season was his senior year. The
Mustangs finished with a 10-2 season and a
third consecutive trip to NAIA post
season play. Along the way he amassed a very impressive list of Morningside and
GPAC honors!!!

adding five more helpers to his overall stats.
He would also play twenty-seven JV contests and despite missing five games, he
would finish third in team scoring with fifteen goals
and twenty-two assists. These thirty-seven points placed him among the MHSHL's
top ten scorers this season.. Selected again
as an
alternate captain, he continued to be a team leader & mentor and was honored with
the Metros Iron Man Award.

varsity games and in twenty-eight JV games recording nine goals
and ten assists for a JV team leading nineteen points. He would be
selected an Alternate Captain for the third season.

following two seasons he would easily claimed the Metros top Heavy Hitter
distinction recording 67 and 102 penalty minutes

Following his senior season Cody would leave the
dark side behind; joining the
USA Hockey Officials Development Program (ODP). He
is currently in his fifth season as part of the Program and is working a
steady schedule of NA3Hl and NAHL games. He has been selected
to work several U18 National Tournaments. At the conclusion of the 17-18
regular season, Cody was one of a few officials making the cut
for NAHL play-off assignments. That following season he would join the
USHL where he is currently a full-time official.

Metro to attend
three different universities and still graduate on time.

Following his senior season Sammy would go on to play
college club hockey for Rochester Institute of Technology. He would
also
make the
2015 USA Hockey National Team playing in the World Deaf Hockey
Championships held in Khanty-Manaiysk, Russia. Sammy scores
his first Olympic goal in a win over Kazakhstan and an eventual bronze
medal finish.. Held every two seasons, he again makes the Olympic
squad, this time racking up four goals and two assists as the Americans capture
the Gold Medal in a victory over Canada.
MHSHL celebrates the 40th season of High School hockey. All jerseys sport

Tanner is back again as one of the Metros
top scorers this final season, he leads the way in scoring netting 26 goals and
39
assists. His 65
points was not only the Metros best this season, but the second
highest in the MHSHL. His 39 assists in a single season if second highest
among all Metros players. Tanner would amass 172 varsity points wearing these
jerseys, making him the second highest scorer in
Jr. Musketeer/Metro history. Tanner would also put
together a mid-season scoring streak notching 26 points in ten games.
This was his third season as a MHSHL All-Star and his second as an MHSHL All League player, as well as
his second selection to
the America's
Showcase Team. Tanner is a Metros two-time Most Valuable Player, and is
a just a handful of Metros players
who
were top five High Scorers for three seasons in a row; his freshman year he
would finish the season as a top three junior varsity scorer.
Player Update...Tanner would go on to play a pair
of seasons for the Alexandria Blizzard. He would see time in ninety-two regular
season games recording twenty-nine goals and twenty-eight assists. His best
outing was a pair of three point games; a goal and two
assists in back-to-back wins over the Rochester Grizzlies.
Jersey styles remain the same as previous season.
Many players left their 40th anniversary patch on the this season for the second
half of forty seasons. New players this season did not add patches.

Drake would wear this same jersey/style the following
season when the Metros captured both the MHSHL Regular & Post-season Tournament
Championships. The Metros would would finish the season going
25-2-1 and win Sioux City's first regular season championship
in twenty-five seasons.
The Metros would also go 3-0 in the post season
tournament giving the Metros their seventh State/Tournament
Championship. Drake would Lead the
Metros and all other League scorers notching
twenty-six goals, forty-three assists for sixty-nine
total points-just one point shy of the Metros all-time
scoring record. He would
be selected to the MHSHL's All-Star and All-League
teams.
The Metros would advance to the 2018 USA
Hockey National Tournament where they are again victorious, bringing home Sioux
City's first
ever such honor. Blake sees time in all six games; adding three assists to his
pair of goals in the opening game against Manatee Florida
and his game winning National Championship goals against Monarch Colorado.
Max Beller
Metros 2016-18
Max returns this season to Sioux City to play
his high school hockey for the Metros. Max
played three seasons in the Omaha
Lancers AAA program; The Lancers are widely
regarded as one of the top-five AAA programs in the nation.

The following season Max would go on to be a part of the Metros
MHSHL Regular & Post-season Championships as well as USA Hockey's
National Tournament Championship team. The Junior
would lead the team with 98 penalty minutes finishing as the Metros top Heavy
Hitter. Max
also recorded eight goals, five assists and one game winner against the Lincoln Stars. He also had a pair of multi goal affairs
against the Dubuque
Devils and the Stars. He saw time in all six National Championship games;
scoring a goal in a win over Manatee Florida and adding an assist
in another victory over Newark Ohio. He is expected to return next season
as one of the Metros defensive corps leaders.
Player Update...Max's senior
season is filled with success. He is selected as one of the team Captains and
leads the defensive corps
to the second fewest goals allowed in the league. He is a top three Metros
scorer with nineteen goals, twenty-one assists and forty points
and sets several all-time scoring records. His nineteen goals and forty
points in a single season is highest ever among all Jr. Musketeer/Metros
defenseman; his twenty-one assists in a single season and twenty-eight total
goals is third best among all Sioux City defenseman. He will
go on to play in the USPHL for the Minnesota Blue Ox.

Walt would play four seasons for the Metros; playing twice
in the State Tournament
championship game leading the Metros to a eventual championship his senior year.
He was one of the unofficial team leaders and a
top defenseman. Walt's biggest goal of the season came in overtime, when his
shot from the point gave the Metros a second-round
tournament win; sending the Metros to the championship game and their seventh
overall state title.

Reece McDonald
Metros 2015-19

Reece McDonald would record seventeen goals and
twenty-four assists; finishing his fourth season with the Metros as the second

scorer. He was instrumental in the Metros overall success the the last three
seasons including the 2018 Midwest League and USA Hockey
National Championship victories. Next season he will go on to play for the
Wisconsin Rapids River Kings; members of the USPHL.

Championship. He would be selected as one of the team captains his senior
season. Later that season he helps Team
Midwest to a Silver Stick National Tournament runner-up finish. He is currently
playing in the USPHL for the

game after going 3-0-1 in pool play.
Unfortunately they would fall short to the Halton Hills Thunder from Ontario,
Canada.

records a pair of assists during the week.
